About the Role
St Laurence’s Catholic Primary School has an exciting opportunity for a School Support Officer to join our team. This part-time position offers a rewarding opportunity to support students in their learning journey while working collaboratively with teachers and school staff.

The School Support Officer will support the classroom teacher in delivering high-quality instruction to students in a Catholic School setting. The role will involve:

  • Providing in-class support for teachers and their students with learning needs
  • Supporting and supervising students with additional learning needs in and out of the classroom environment
  • Collaborating with classroom teachers to ensure the inclusion of all students in all learning experiences
  • Applying appropriate behaviour management strategies that contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive learning environment

About You
We are looking for someone who is able to address the following selection criteria:

  • Understanding of how to engage, relate and work appropriately and sensitively with young people with a range of abilities, ambitions and backgrounds.
  • Previous experience in student support
  • Have at least a Cert III or Cert IV Education Support (desirable)
  • Proven capacity to effectively engage and work collaboratively with other staff, fostering a culture of serving others, professionalism, responsibility and collegiality in open communication.
  • Proven capacity to support the delivery of learning support curriculum and programs in a relevant, meaningful and engaging manner.
  • Possess well developed verbal and written communication skills & sound computer skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proven capacity to work strategically and effectively through challenges.
  • A willingness to support the Catholic tradition and ethos in the workplace
