About the Role

St Patrick's Catholic Primary School, Lithgow is seeking an energetic and self-motivated Canteen Assistant to join the school community commencing Term 1, 2026. This position is crucial in ensuring the smooth operations of the canteen whilst also creating a safe, welcoming, and efficient environment for students, staff, and the broader school community.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Follow strict hygiene procedures (handwashing, gloves, cleaning processes).
  • Maintain a regular cleaning and maintenance schedule for fridges, ovens, benches, freezers, cool rooms and more.
  • Prepare food for daily service and lunch orders.
  • Support catering for school and community events.
  • Ensure all surfaces, tools, and equipment are hygienically cleaned and maintainedEmpty bins and maintain rubbish stations.
  • Provide friendly and efficient customer service.
  • Handle cash and EFT payments.
  • Refill and restock supplies and cleaning materials.
  • Receive stock, check use-by dates, and assist with stocktake.
