The Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst (CEDB) is seeking a proactive and enthusiastic HR Services Officer to join our HR, Risk & WHS team. This Permanent, Full-time opportunity will see you play a vital role in delivering high-quality HR support to more than 2,000 employees across 33 schools, ensuring that every contract, check, and change runs smoothly behind the scenes.

About the role
Reporting to the HR Services Advisor, the HR Services Officer provides day-to-day operational HR support for schools and central office staff. With a strong focus on employee documentation, system accuracy, and compliance, this role ensures the smooth delivery of HR services in a fast-paced environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare and process contracts, variations, and employment-related documentation in line with policies and deadlines
  • Maintain employee records and HR systems (Unity, PageUp, etc.) with accuracy and confidentiality
  • Conduct compliance checks (e.g. WWCC, NESA, VEVO) and monitor expiry dates
  • Support schools with onboarding, terminations, and employment changes
  • Respond to HR queries from school staff and principals, escalating complex matters when required
  • Assist with workforce planning and staffing reports to ensure alignment with staffing allocations
  • Coordinate the Performance Assessment process with schools and consultants
  • Liaise with payroll and other internal teams to ensure accurate and timely data

About you (Selection Criteria)
We are looking for someone able to align with the following selection criteria:

  • Demonstrates a commitment to the values and ethos of the Catholic tradition
  • Has experience in HR administration or a similar support-based role
  • Demonstrates excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy
  • Possesses well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Is confident using systems and databases (experience with PageUp or HRIS is an advantage)
  • Has the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing needs
  • Shows initiative, professionalism, and a proactive attitude to problem-solving
  • Holds or is eligible to hold a valid Working with Children Check
  • A degree in Human Resources, Business, or another relevant field (desirable but not essential)
