Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst (CEDB) is seeking a passionate and experienced professional to join our Wellbeing & Diverse Learning team in the vital role of Education Officer: Wellbeing and Complex Student Support (K-12).

This strategic role provides frontline support to schools in responding to the complex and challenging needs of students. With a growing number of young people experiencing metntal health challenges, significant learning difficulties, and complex behavioural presentations, this role is paramount to our system of schools.

 

Key responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Team Leader of Wellbeing & Diverse Learning, the Education Officer will be responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Supporting whole-school wellbeing approaches by guiding schools in the development and implementation of inclusive behaviour management systems and policies
  • Providing case management support for students with complex psychological, behavioural, or medical needs, including documentation and individual programming
  • Delivering professional development to build teacher and leader capacity in trauma-informed practice, student engagement, and proactive behaviour support
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including allied health professionals, to develop holistic student support plans
  • Contributing to diocesan strategy and planning around wellbeing, behaviour, and inclusion, responding to emerging trends and student needs
  • Fostering partnerships with agencies to strengthen coordinated care and enhance service delivery for vulnerable students and their families
  • Promoting the Catholic mission by modelling Gospel values, supporting evangelisation, and fostering collaboration among schools leaders, teachers, and families
  • Working as part of a system-wide team, sharing expertise and supporting a culture of continuous improvement in student wellbeing and support practices

 

What we’re looking for

The successful candidate will satisfy the following criteria: 

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in education, psychology, social work, or a related discipline
  • Experience in school based or system level roles supporting student behaviour, wellbeing, or inclusion
  • Postgraduate qualifications in behaviour support, special education, psychology or leadership (desirable)
  • Accreditation to work in Catholic Education (or willingness to obtain)
  • Current drivers licence & willingness to undertake travel as required
  • Current working with children check
