Education Officer: Aboriginal Education | Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst 

Temporary | Part-time (2 days per week) 

Commencing Term 1 2026 - Term 1 2027 

Role based out of either Bathurst or Dubbo office

Salary paying up to $164,199 + super (pro-rata)

About the Role 

Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst is seeking an Education Officer: Aboriginal Education to play a key role in strengthening culturally safe learning environments and improving educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait  Islander students across our system of schools. Working in close partnership with schools and Learning, Teaching and Wellbeing Team, this role is central to our commitment to equity, identity, and growth for all students. 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Mentor and support school staff in culturally responsive Literacy and Numeracy programs. 
  • Collaborate with school leaders to align funding with measurable student outcomes. 
  • Facilitate professional learning and sharing of best practices. 
  • Use data to celebrate growth, identify needs, and drive continuous improvement. 
  • Build confidence and cultural understanding among school communities. 
  • Regularly visit schools to offer coaching and hands-on support.

About You 

  • A deep commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education. 
  • Experience as a successful classroom practitioner.
  • The ability to build strong, respectful relationships with diverse stakeholders. 
  • Strong skills in mentoring, data analysis, and strategic resource use. 
  • Experience in monitoring and reporting on educational funding.
  • A proactive, reflective mindset and a collaborative approach to problem-solving. 
  • Postgraduate study in education and/or leadership (highly regarded).
