About the Role 

Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst is seeking a Paediatric Speech Pathologist to join the Wellbeing & Diverse Learning team, supporting 33 schools across the Diocese with vital speech, language, and communication services. 

As a key member of the Wellbeing & Diverse Learning team, you will be responsible for delivering evidence-based support that promotes early intervention and inclusive education. You will work to strengthen student wellbeing by addressing communication challenges that impact learning, engagement, and social connection.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Promote the Vision and Mission of Catholic education by modelling Christ’s values, supporting school leadership, and fostering collaboration among pastors, parents, and teachers. 
  • Support schools in managing communication and speech difficulties through system-level planning, policy development, and coordination with wellbeing teams.
  • Provide case management for students with speech and communication needs, including assessments, individualised learning plans, and support for student wellbeing.
  • Deliver professional development and training for teachers and staff to enhance strategies for supporting students with complex communication and speech disorders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external health agencies to plan, coordinate, and deliver holistic speech pathology services and interventions.
  • Maintain strong clinical knowledge, communication skills, and reflective practices to support diverse student needs and ongoing professional growth.

About You 

  • Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology with current Speech Pathology Australia membership.
  • Experience working with children and young people with a variety of communication needs.
  • Knowledge of the NSW education system and inclusive practice.
  • Strong clinical skills in speech, language, and communication development.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to the values and mission of Catholic education, supporting the dignity and wellbeing of every student.
  • Willingness to travel within the Diocese (Bathurst, Dubbo, surrounding regions).
  • Current Working with Children Check and driver’s licence.
